How to pick a category
The useful question is not “what genre do I like?” but “how long have I got, and how much attention can I spare?” Casual and arcade suit a five-minute gap and survive being interrupted. Puzzle and strategy want a longer, quieter run at them. Action and sports sit in the middle — quick to start, easy to lose forty minutes to. Multiplayer is the one to open when someone else is in the room or on the other end of a link.
